Brian Beneduce, owner and founder of Motivate for Success, operates numerous successful businesses in the United States and Canada. Born in Brooklyn, and raised in New Jersey, Brian presently makes his home in North Kingstown with his wife and two children.
Brian’s introduction into the workforce was in 1979 working for the family business, Luben Plastics. Starting on the production line, and working for the same wage as every hourly employee, Brian quickly proved himself and began advancing within the company. Over a period of eight years, he became skilled at, and excelled, in all aspects of the business including production, maintenance, management and ultimately sales.
At the convergence of the family business, his own successful entrepreneurial endeavors, and his passion for weight lifting, Brian began building on his winning philosophy. His main objective: to conceptualize how the skills he developed in his weight training translated into the business world.
In 1986 the family business was dealt a stunning blow; a material shortage crippled Luben Plastics’ ability to fulfill its orders. In an attempt to save the company, Brian sold Champion Sports Gym to raise money for the family business. In the end, Luben Plastics was forced to close leaving Brian with only a collection of business cards and a fax machine.
Undaunted, he started Ocean State Packaging in an extra bedroom in his home. He established goals and achieved them, set more ambitious goals and achieved them, and built a multi-million dollar business.
Not only did Brian start Ocean State Packaging, this company became an innovator in the packaging industry. It was one of the first businesses to secure Canadian manufacturing capacity. Utilizing the volume his customers were generating, he was able to negotiate for faster and more modern technology. Therefore; all future customers as well as consumers were able to benefit from his cost savings. At the time Brian reached out for the Canadian business, Canada was only producing a minimal amount of packaging into the States. Brian negotiated with two of the largest firms in Canada and persuaded them to discharge their salesman making $65,000 - $100,000 per year and hire Ocean State Packaging as their sales force. Hesitant at first, the company agreed and after 2 short years, Ocean State Packaging was producing the sales of eight salesmen – and at that time, it was only Brian working the company. That was over 15 years ago and millions of dollars in sales later!
Over the years, the company has been instrumental in the design of numerous award-winning packages –many of which can be found on the shelves of well-known retailers such as Walmart, CVS, Walgreen’s and others. Once again Brian was written up several times in numerous national business publications including “Plastic news”, “Containers and Closures”, “Distributors Inc”.
Using this same business philosophy in his youth sports coaching, Brian was amazed at how well the players, along with their parents, responded. Brian’s philosophy: to communicate a winning attitude and teach people how to win - in turn, YOU will reap the benefits. In sports, treat each person differently because they are different. Identify each persons needs and work with the accordingly - learning HOW to do this is the trick. Getting them to PLAY as a TEAM is also critical! In sports AS WELL AS in business!
With the emergence of his success, people began seeking out Brian’s advice. Soon, he found himself sharing the “secret” of his success: integrating his Intense Focus Training (see IFT) into his professional as well as his everyday life. Gradually, he started making notes – writing his unique perspective on life and work. In 1998, Brian formalized his training programs by starting Motivate for Success, Inc. to share his philosophy, strategies, and experiences with others.
